Inspection of children’s correctional facilities in Zambia

The HRC Office of the Commissioner for Children recently visited Katombora Reformatory in Livingstone, Nakambala Approved School in Mazabuka and Insakwe Probation Hostel for Girls in Ndola in continuing to monitor the state of the three children’s correctional facilities in Zambia following previous visitations in January 2009.

The visitations were undertaken to assess adherence of the facilities to minimum standards of care for children who come in contact with the law and have been declared delinquent by courts of law.

The Commission hopes that every effort will be taken to implement its recommendations.
