The third cycle of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) runs from 2017 to 2021. Zambia will be reviewed in October/November 2017 according to the Human Rights Council UPR 3rd cycle calendar. Downlaod calendar

 

In 2006, the UN introduced the UPR mechanism for assessing the human rights situation of Member States. Zambia was first reviewed in 2008, and the second review took place in 2012, following which a number of recommendations were given to the Zambian Government to implement. To this end, the Human Rights Commission developed a UPR Recommendations Implementation Monitoring Framework. Download the report

The Human Rights Commission joins the stakeholders in Zambia and the rest of the world in commemorating the International Women's Day which falls on 8th March of every year.
